Shortly after I moved, I met my husband, Eric, and we've been together since.  We were married in August of 1999.  Before we left Iowa City I worked at Younkers Department Store as their office manager, but my husband has been a cook for 11 years and we decided that we would like to own our own restaurant someday, so we moved to Portland Oregon in January to attend Western Culinary Institute.  I am currently working in the prepared foods department at Whole Foods here and attending school--both of which keep me very busy!! We provide newspapers with comics, puzzles, columns and other entertaining features. Some of our major creators you are probably familiar with are Cathy, Garfield, For Better or Worse and Ziggy. We also syndicate columns such as Dear Abby, Ann Coulter and Roger Ebert. I am the international production coordinator. Valerie (Whitney) Rodgers:  (8-24-02)  Hi everyone! Well, let's see.... I am married to my wonderful husband Chad- who is the middle school Social Studies teacher in Griswold and he also coaches Boys High School baseball and basketball. I graduated from IWCC with a degree in Business Management and Administration in Accounting and work at Citizens State Bank in Oakland, IA. We have no kids, but 2 hyper active dogs- Barkley- a yellow lab that loves to dig holes and chew on the garage & Trey- a black lab mix- our only pet with some manners. We also have a 3 legged cat we call "The Tri-pod kitty"- (her real name is Willimina.) In my spare time, I follow my husband to all of his sporting events, I work-out religiously (who would have thought??), I help my wonderful mother- who is blind, and I've slightly improved my golf game- every once in awhile I hit the ball without woofing it 8 times.
